PRODUCTIVITY IMPROVEMENT, WASTE MANAGEMENT AND POLLUTION CONTROL
Technical assistance was provided in the preparation of a 5-year Solid Waste Management Plan for Brgy. Ayala Alabang. In order to achieve this, the team conducted a Waste Analysis and Characterization Study (WACS), assessment of the current solid waste management situation in the barangay, established goals and targets for solid waste management and developed implementation strategy and action plans that were integrated in the solid waste management plan.
This assignment aims to develop a policy brief on reducing single-use plastics with a focus on plastic items used in food consumption, takeaway, and delivery. The output provided practicable policy recommendations to reduce single-use plastics in the food consumption and delivery sector within the context of the available market, of existing institutional frameworks and of forthcoming legal developments.
The project consists of research, technical support, and stakeholder engagement, and was developed in line with the National Plan of Action on Marine Litter and will contribute to the government’s campaign against single-use plastics.

The team conducted technology needs assessment and cleaner production (CP) assessment to 10 small and medium enterprises in Region X to improve their production efficiency, reduce wastes and comply with environmental regulations.
Hatch Foods Products, Inc.
Technical assistance was provided to Hatch Foods Products, Inc., a nata de coco processing company, to comply with the basic Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). A Food Safety Manual and documentary requirements for obtaining a License to Operate from the Food and Drugs Administration were prepared.
Energy Development Corporation
A Waste Management Plan for the Leyte Geothermal Business Unit (LGBU) was developed with the aim of reduction and proper management of the wastes generated from its power plants and steamfield operations, as well as comply with environmental regulations in the most cost-effective way.
International Labor Organization
This project aims to promote a model of worker-employer cooperation that supports greener workplaces and sustainable enterprises in selected hotels in Coron, Palawan. DTCI provided technical assistance to participating hotels/resorts on the following focus areas of improvement: resource efficiency, occupational health and safety and increasing overall competitiveness.
Energy Development Corporation (EDC)
This project was implemented for EDC, the leading geothermal energy company in the Philippines, to develop a waste minimization program for Leyte Geothermal Business Unit (LGBU). The first project in year 2012 focused on the development of waste management plan for the Administrative Complex, Laboratory and the Mahanagdong and Tongonan pipeline maintenance activities through the conduct of waste analysis and characterization study and waste stream analysis.
An off-shoot of the first project is the development of a Waste Management Master Plan for LGBU. This study, conducted in 2014, served as basis for the implementation of proper waste handling and disposal with emphasis on the implementation of waste reduction strategies, pollution prevention practices and waste recycling and re-use. Areas covered by the study are the Upper Mahiao, Malitbog, Mahanagdong A & B, and Tongonan sectors, Steam field, Integrated Laboratory Services, Site Maintenance in the Administrative Complex, Transmission and Dispatch, General Services and Storage / Warehouse Area.

SMART Cebu’s overall objective is to increase the competitiveness of SMEs in the three of the major sectors in Cebu: the furniture industry, gifts, toys and houseware industry, and fashion accessories industry. In order to better realize this objective, detailed analysis of the production processes and operations employed in the three industrial sectors were made through the conduct of resource efficient and cleaner production assessment in twenty (20) Cebu-based companies belonging to the three sectors.

DTCI conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment and prepared a Project Description Report, and updated the Environmental Management Plan and Environmental Monitoring Plan for the addition of Tabing Ilog Station to the North South Commuter Railway Project.
Evolution Data Centres Philippines, Inc.
The DTCI Team provided technical assistance in securing an ECC for a data centre farm and offices in General Trias, Cavite.
Waste and Resources Management Inc.
This engagement provided technical assistance in the preparation and submission of IEE documents to DENR-EMB IV-A for the proposed integrated waste management facility in Calamba, Laguna.
Waste and Resources Management Inc.
This project helped the client secure an amended ECC for the expansion of its waste management facility in Calamba, Laguna.
Travellers International Hotel Group Inc.
The team has secured an ECC and a Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) Clearance for the Newport Link Project through the conduct of an Environmental Impact Assessment and preparation of appropriate documentation requirements.
Oriental Consultants Global Co., Ltd. and Department of Transportation
The Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) is the first ever subway project in the Philippines that will connect North Caloocan or Meycauayan in Bulacan and Dasmariñas in Cavite through the National Capital Region. This is a project proposed by the Department of Transportation.
DTCI conducted baseline environmental assessment along the project area (Valenzuela City to Taguig City, alignment traversing 28.3 km), identified and assessed the project’s potential environmental impacts, developed mitigation measures and monitoring plans, conducted stakeholders meetings and public hearings and prepared Environmental Impact Statement of the proposed project.

Katahira and Engineers International
DTCI conducted an EIA study of the Malolos to FTI, Taguig segment of the Clark Airport Express Railway project. Baseline information was collected and field surveys on the project area were conducted, the project’s environmental impacts were identified, predicted and assessed, and mitigation measures and monitoring plans were developed.

Regulatory permits and requirements were secured from the Department of Tourism Accreditation for Primary Tourism Enterprises, and Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
TV5 Network, Inc. – Reliance
DTCI provided environmental services in securing/ renewal of environmental permits such as Discharge Permit, Permit to Operate Gensets, and Hazardous Waste Generator Registration, testing of relevant environmental parameters for compliance, preparation and timely submission of Self- Monitoring Reports (SMRs) and Compliance Monitoring Reports (CMRs), provided recommendations for the improvement of environmental compliance, and acted as liaison between EMB DENR and TV5 Network, Inc.
TV5 Network, Inc. – Novaliches
This engagement helped TV5 Novaliches in securing its PTO for generator sets by providing emissions testing and documentation of requirements for PTO compliance.

National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI)
This project involved the conduct of training and mentoring of the key personnel of NKTI in the development of their own Environmental Management System (EMS) based on ISO 14001:2015, as part of NKTI’s Integrated Management System (IMS)
Energy Development Corporation
Training/ Workshop was provided EDC Environmental Supervisors and Pollution Control Officers to enhance their skills and knowledge in the application of statistics to aid in the analysis of environmental monitoring data and informed decision-making for environmental management.
Training/ workshop on Hazardous Waste Management was conducted for Negros Island Geothermal Business Unit in Dumaguete City and BacMan Geothermal Business Unit in Legaspi City. The trainings equipped the participants with knowledge and skills in managing hazardous wastes in their respective work area, as well as knowledge on legal requirements in the management of hazardous wastes.
In-house, tailor-fit training on RECP was conducted for key participants in all MWCI departments to provide them the knowledge and skills in reducing resource consumption and waste generation. The training covered extensive topics ranging from basic concept of RECP, various productivity improvement and management tools, environmental management accounting, environmental investment appraisal and financial assessment of technologies.
